Fashionable dog breeds are on the rise in Twickenham, as research shows dog owners are more likely to buy a puppy based on Instagram pictures than ever before.
Dogs favoured by celebrities, including and pugs and French bulldogs, have seen a sharp rise in Twickenham, with the Kennel Club reporting a 600 per cent increase for the latter.
The French bulldog is the most rapidly trending breed across the UK, after celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio and Jessie J have been seen with them.
Kennel Club secretary Caroline Kisko said: "We are not only seeing celebrity dog ownership influence Twickenham’s choice of dog, but are now seeing dogs who are celebrities in their own right, leading to a huge increase in dog breed popularity in Twickenham and the rest of the UK.
"This can result in people making the wrong choice when it comes to dog ownership, choosing a dog that is not right for their lifestyle simply because it is cute or popular on social media."
