Richmond in Bloom at 25: All the winners here

Hundreds filled Clarendon Hall at York House, Twickenham, for the awards ceremony, which saw Twickenham win the inaugual Village in Bloom prize.

The trophy was named the Schooling Trophy, after Pat Schooling, who has been involved with the awards since its inception.

She said: "I'm absolutely overwhelmed, I am really, really proud.

"I will be thinking about this for days and weeks and years to come."

Twickenham won the award, with head of parks at Richmond Council David Allister paying tribute to the work of Bruce Lyons, chairman of the Twickenham Town Business Association.

Barnes and Teddington were joint runners-up.

Christine Arnold took this year's Richmond and Twickenham Times Trophy, presented by RTT reporter Tom Ambrose.

Other highlights included The Jolly Cooper in Hampton winning Best Hotel or Pub Exterior and Completely Floored, Twickenham, took Best Business Premises.

Speaking about the 25th anniversary of Richmond in Bloom, Mrs Schooling said: "From the start, it has been a borough-wide enterprise and we always try to have representatives from all corners of the borough.

"We also feel very strongly about encouraging young people to enjoy the flowers around them.

"I would also like to take the opportunity tonight to pay my own personal thanks and tributes to the Richmond in Bloom committee.

"They have always been very enthusiastic and enormously hard-working."
