A former New Zealand rugby player has been found by police in Twickenham after he went missing from Heathrow Airport.

Terry Lineen, who played for the All Blacks from 1957 to 1960, arrived in London from Auckland and was due to travel on to visit family in Edinburgh, reports Sky News.

The 79-year-old failed to board the connecting flight and was captured on CCTV in the airport's Southern Perimeter Road on Thursday.

Police were contracted by a member of the public, who saw a man who appeared to have been involved in a hit-and-run.

He was bleeding from his arm, according to his daughter-in-law, Lynne Lineen.

Officers found him this morning and he was taken to hospital for treatment.

His son, former Scotland international and Scotland under-20s head coach Sean Lineen, has travelled down to London to be with his father.
