Huge rugby balls have been installed in open spaces around the borough ahead of this year’s Rugby World Cup.

The five fibreglass rugby balls are to welcome the home nations to the borough and encourage people to visit the parks and open spaces during the tournament.

Each ball has been decorated to represent a nation, meaning England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland all have a ball decorated with their own national symbols on it.

The fifth ball has been decorated to celebrate the borough’s ‘TRY IT festival’.

Councillor for sport and culture Meena Bond said: “Remember to send us your photos on Twitter - #TRYITfestival to be in with a chance of taking a photo with the Webb Ellis Cup on Friday 11 September and an official Rugby World Cup, Gilbert Rugby Ball.

"Four runners up will receive an official mini Gilbert rugby ball.”
