A glass bottle attack in Twickenham left a man injured, the Metropolitan Police said.

The 60-year-old was assaulted on Sunday afternoon outside a York Street convenience store after getting into a disagreement with another man at about 3.15pm.

According to police the pair were outside the shop when the suspect began swinging a plastic bag containing glass bottles at the man, which caused a cut to his neck.

He was taken to a south London hospital by the London Ambulance Service after police officers arrived and administered first aid.

A doctor at the hospital found the impact injuries to be superficial rather than caused specifically by the glass.

Police have now launched an appeal for witnesses to the daylight assault.

The suspect is described as white, 5ft 4in and aged between 23 and 28.

He was wearing a blue T-shirt and had short curly hair.
