A woman has been arrested on suspicion of theft and criminal damage at Teddington Cemetery, including destroying a photo of a baby boy.

The 56-year-old was arrested in connection with overnight thefts that took place on May 8 and June 29, as well as criminal damage overnight on May 24 and June 21.

The Richmond and Twickenham Times exclusively revealed last month how Maxine O’Mara, who lives in Queens Road, discovered her baby son’s grave at the Shacklegate Lane cemetery had been vandalised.

The grave of Patrick James O’Mara-Roberts, who died aged just two in 1994, was surrounded by ornaments including a small bear, a gnome and a cupcake.

Ms O’Mara was left “sickened” when she discovered the ornaments stolen and found a picture of her baby boy had been severely damaged.

The arrested woman has been bailed to return to a west London police station in early September.

Officers from the Fulwell and Hampton Hill Safer Neighbourhoods Team continue their investigations.
