January 30, 2001 15:15: AT the Kent Schools' Cross-Country Championships at Hythe, Ella Fisher mastered a frozen, hilly course to finish second in the junior girls' race, once again ensuring her selection for the Kent team in the All-England Schools' Championships.

In the field of 78, Holly Mumford ran very well for 13th place, closely followed by Susan Jackson in 15th, with Zoe Burgess (26th), Holly Underwood (39th) and Nicola Moran (60th) also finishing.

Tamia Wilson came 19th in the intermediate race and, in the seniors, club athletes supplied all the West Kent team, with Nikki Baker coming ninth, Gemma Baker in 10th and Victoria Middleton 14th.

Three Bromley runners were competing in the Surrey Schools Championships at Reigate on the same day.

Lizzie Kenny had another good run in placing eighth in the junior girls' race with Laura Jearum well up in 23rd. Fran Doran had a good run in the senior race when finishing ninth.
