Private gardens in Richmond Hill will open their gates to visitors next weekend to raise money for charity.

Richmond and Twickenham Times:

Something to behold: The gardens in Richmond Hill will be opened

Most of the gardens, attached to grand and Georgian homes, have never before been open to the public and the variety on show offer something for every lover of the outdoors.

A Richmond Hill Open Gardens spokeswoman said: "Garden visiting can be thirsty work so plans are afoot to offer refreshing teas and homemade cakes at St Matthias Church Hall, as well as a lunchtime barbecue hosted in one of our stunning gardens, weather permitting."

Proceeds from the sale of tickets, costing £10 for entry to all gardens, will go to Home-Start Richmond and Richmond Good Neighbours.

Gardens will be open from 10am to 5pm on Sunday, May 31, and will have balloons tied to the gatepost to help visitors find their way.

Tickets will be on sale from each garden and St Matthias Church, with under-16s going free.
