Sir Richard Francis Burton: Buried at St Mary Magdalen Church, Mortlake
A bust of Victorian explorer Sir Richard Francis Burton is the latest addition to the Richmond Borough Art Collection, cared for by Orleans House Gallery.
Historian and biographer Mary Lovell recently donated the bust of Burton (1821-1890), and books by the famous explorer, who is buried in St Mary Magdalen Church in Mortlake.
The bust, an edition of only three, is by artist Sandy AM Connor and Richmond Council head of arts Rachel Tranter said she and curator Mark De Novellis were delighted to receive the donation.
