Has a “rogue-framer” been sprucing up Teddington’s road signs with these golden frames?

Richmond and Twickenham Times:

Parking permit signs and street signs in Field Lane, Broad Street and Adelaide Road have been spotted with the new frames, as well as a neatly framed sign urging people to clean up their dogs’ mess in Cambridge Road.

A Richmond Council spokesman said the framing was nothing to do with them, and suggested a link between the sign-framing and when various items, including a post-box in Broad Street, were spray-painted gold after the Olympic Games in 2012.

A spokesman from Transport for London also denied the organisation was behind the framing and said it could be the actions of a "rogue-framer, if there is such a thing".

Emma Durnford, a photographer who lives in Cambridge Crescent, said she has found at least 10 framed signs dotted around the area but has no definite idea who could be behind them.

She said: “I think it’s a fun thing, the signs haven’t been obscured and I just think it’s a bit of harmless fun that makes Teddington even more individual.

“How they managed it without anyone noticing I do not know. They must have measured the signs then come back to put the frames up and it will have taken a while to do.

“I am sure whoever is responsible will be coming out and taking credit for it at some point.”
