A person died after being hit by a train in North Sheen on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the level crossing in Manor Road, near North Sheen station, shortly after 5pm on April 7.

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called at 5.05pm to reports of a person under a train at Manor Road in Richmond.

"We sent a number of resources to the scence including London's Air Ambulance.

"Sadly the patient was pronounced dead at the scene by the doctor from London's Air Ambulance."

Trains between Clapham Junction and London Waterloo via Hounslow were subject to diversions and delays of up to 60 minutes while police and ambulance crews attended.

Train services resumed a normal schedule just before 9.30pm.
