A nine-year-old boy was hit by a car while crossing a road outside Hampton Wick station today.

Dmitry Yasser, who was dropping off his daughter at the station this morning, said he heard screaming when the child was hit.

He said: "I was taking stuff out from the boot of my car and I just heard a bump and his mother started screaming.

"I understand that the boy was hit right on the crossing.

"He was conscious and it didn’t look like he was in too much pain, but it is hard to say."

The boy's injuries were "non-life threatening", according to police, who were called at 7.33am.

A spokesman said: "A nine-year-old boy was treated by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) at the scene.

"The car involved was a Volkswagen Golf and the driver did stop.

"The child's injuries were nothing serious - he had pain in his leg, he bumped his leg and banged his head."

The boy was taken to hospital and no arrests were made, police added.

An LAS spokesman said: "We were called at 7.23am to reports a child had been hit by a car.

"We sent an ambulance crew, a cycle responder and a duty officer.

"We treated a boy for a minor head wound."

Kingston Road is one of the busiest routes into and out of Kingston.

Paramedics were outside the Londis newsagent in the street this morning.
