A passenger, who did not want to be named, said everyone was kept on the train until 8.50.

He added: The train stopped at about 7.20am and they just said somebody had died and they had to wait for police, ambulance and paramedics to arrive.

"I can't believe what has happened - just awful."

A Woffington Close resident, who did not want to be named, said she saw police and paramedics after the incident.

She said: "It was really awful and I was very shaken by it all. I feel very sorry for the poor driver of the train.

"The passengers were let off the backof the train so nobody was able to see anything.

"The guys that were out there did the best they could to make sure the person was given as much dignity as possible."

Kingston loop trains were delayed by up to 30 minutes, with disruption continuing until about 11am.
