A tiny Twickenham granny flat has gone on the market for £300,000 - but remember to breathe in because it is a bit of a squeeze.

Richmond and Twickenham Times:

The super-skinny property is just 8.5ft wide and is sandwiched between two normal sized homes in Third Cross Road, just around the corner from Twickenham Green.

But any prospective buyers will not be short of garden space - the 1,562sq ft lawn is almost five times as spacious as the 332sq ft of living space.

The sale is being overseen by Teddington estate agent Jackson-Stops and Staff, who said they had received a flurry of interest in the "unique" property.

Managing director Russell Gooden said: "It is tiny - we are doing a lot of viewings as it is one of those things where people want to come and have a look at it.

"It is in good condition but sometimes you have properties like this where everybody wants to look at it but nobody wants to buy it.

"But in an area like this, it is not a huge issue.

"Properties like this coming on to the market like this one are very rare - it is the first time I have had it after 25 years in the job."

Richmond and Twickenham Times:

There is no need to fret about the lack of room though because the garden is also home to a 17.7ft by 6.5ft shed - more than twice as wide as the property.

The house itself squeezes in two beds, although one is on a mezzanine floor situated above the fridge.

The quirky home was originally built as a granny flat for the neighbouring house and comes with off-street parking and its own driveway.

However, the previous owner's hopes of knocking down the main home and building a new house in the garden were dashed when the council refused permission.

It is not the first time a strange home has gone on the market in the borough - this time last year, a Teddington house was marketed at £650,000 with its previous owners buried in the back garden.
