A special green signal for cyclists could be implemented in Richmond following approval from Transport for London.
The “simultaneous green” crossing, which has been trialled successfully in cities across Europe, detects the presence of a cyclist at the junction and provides a dedicated green light that allows them to proceed ahead of motor vehicles.
The council will conduct a feasibility study about possibly introducing the light at Richmond Road, St Margaret’s Road and Rosslyn Road, subject to Department for Transport approval, full public consultation and funding.
