A man from Kew made an emotional visit to Roehampton University after discovering his great-uncle is listed on a war memorial at the site.
James Dalglish read about the memorial in a Catholic newspaper before finding it displays CA Dalglish among its 288 names.
Mr Dalglish was joined by four members of his extended family, one of whom, William Bellasis, flew in from Paris for the event on Armistice Day.
Mr Bellasis read a letter sent from his uncle, who shared the same name, which was sent to his uncle's mother in 1914, shortly before he died.
A Roehampton University spokesman said: "We hope there will be more families in Richmond who are related to the war heroes on our memorial and we would like to hear from other families who may have a connection to it."
If you think a family member may be named on the memorial., call Jackie Brown on 020 8392 3000 or email j.brown@roehampton.ac.uk.
