A goal from Stuart Dallas deep into added on time gave Brentford a 2-1 win over Derby County at Griffin Park on Saturday.

Despite Derby being the better side during the first half, the Bees drew level early in the second half through Andre Gray before Dallas sealed all three points right at the end.

“The most pleasing thing was that the players got their rewards,” said boss Mark Warburton.

“We have put in some very good performances and got nothing – away at Watford and Bournemouth for example – but today the players got what they deserved for a tremendous second half display.

“I am delighted they got their just rewards, that was a tremendous second half performance.

“We spoke in the week.  We felt we needed more focus.

“We looked at the division and we were seven points from the top and nine from the bottom three.

“We are now only three points off the top six.

“Every game is a cup final.

“That sounds derogatory to us but it is not, we can’t look three or four weeks ahead.”

In the early stages Simon Dawkins took a pass and created a half chance before shooting into the side netting.

Craig Forsyth then broke down the left, with his low ball across the six yard box bringing a fingertip save out of David Button.

In reply Jota did well to set up Gray on the right of box, but his pass back into the box was cleared.

Derby took the lead when Forsyth crossed from left and Chris Martin found the bottom right hand corner.

A purposeful run through the middle from Jota saw him play an early ball to Jon Toral on the left, who shot over the bar.

Just four minutes into the second half the Bees drew level when Moses Odubajo’s cross was fired home by Gray.

Midway through the half the Bees should have taken the lead when Alan Judge’s cross from the left was headed off the crossbar by Gray.

Four minutes into added on time Brentford scored a goal worthy of winning any game when they broke down the right and from the resulting cross substitute Dallas hammered the ball past Jack Buckland into the top left hand corner.
