A man was taken away in an ambulance after being hit by a bus in Twickenham.
A witness described an elderly man who was hit by a 33 bus in York Street, outside the York Street cafe, at about 1.30pm today.
He said: "He appeared to have a nasty blow to the head when he was put in the ambulance.
"You can still see the blood on the road."
A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision between a car and a pedestrian at 1.27pm on York Street.
"We sent an ambulance crew to the scene.
"We treated a man reported to be in his 70s for a head injury."
He was taken to St Georges Hospital in Tooting as a priority.
Police closed off the road while the man received treatment from medical staff.
York Street has now re-opened to traffic in both directions.
