Commercial skating instructors could be allowed to teach in the Royal Parks if positive feedback is received.
The Royal Parks have launched a consultation on the proposals and Twickenham MP Vince Cable is urging people to put forward their views.
The consultation will help ascertain whether there is strong support or opposition to the proposals before a final decision is made.
Dr Cable said he was not aware there had been problems with roller skating and skateboarding instructors in the past.
He said: “After the storm created by attempts to penalise professional dog walkers, I would like to hear if anyone has been troubled by skating instructors or if they would support licensed operators.
“It is important to remember that this is just about licensing commercial instructors; there are no plans to ban roller skates, scooters or skateboards.”
The consultation closes at 5pm on October 31.
