Princess Alice Hospice wants volunteers in Richmond to become hospice neighbours.
The Esher hospice wants people to give four hours a week to support a person who may be in their final years of life, as a way of giving their carer a break.
The support could be anything from keeping someone company, making a cup of tea, collecting a prescription or simply listening to them.
Hospice volunteer Julie Thomas said: "I am a lifelong volunteer and really enjoy supporting others who are less able than myself, enabling them to do things they wouldn’t usually be able to."
Caroline Scollick, social worker at Princess Alice Hospice, said: "We’re looking for good neighbours; people who would like to help others to live well in their last years of life. "If you are able to spare a little time each week then please get in touch for more information."
