Richmond Council has launched a campaign warning residents to protect their homes this summer.
Postcards from a burglar that highlight the mistakes people make when leaving their homes to go on holiday have been sent by the council’s Community Safety Team to homes across the borough.
Council cabinet member for community safety, Councillor Tony Arbour, said: "Don’t let crime ruin your summer holiday and make sure your home is left safe when you go on holiday.
"Although burglary figures are falling in Richmond - approximately one in five residential and non-residential burglaries are from properties left unsecure - just one burglary in Richmond is one too many."
