Richmond College has appointed Robin Ghurbhurun as its new chief executive and principal.

The former Kingston University graduate has worked at a number of colleges including East Surrey, Carshalton and Lewisham.

He took over the role on August 1 and said his main focus was on consolidation.

He said: "I’m looking forward to establishing Richmond as a college for careers with an outstanding reputation for services to learners and employers.

"It will be synonymous with being a great place to learn, to work and to do business with."

Cathy Bird, chairman of governors, said: "Robin will be instrumental in taking the college forward into a new era and repositioning the organisation as a major player within the education and training sector."
