A pensioner was rushed to hospital when he suffered a suspected cardiac arrest and crashed his car into a lamppost.

The man, reported to be in his 80s, was taken to Kingston Hospital as a priority after his silver Citroen crashed into a lamppost in Linden Road, Hampton, shortly after 10am.

A spokesman from the London Ambulance Service (LAS) said: “We were called at 10.05am to Linden Road at the junction with Percy Road to reports of a road traffic collision.

“We sent a single responder in a car, two ambulance crews and a duty officer to the scene.

“The London’s Air Ambulance also attended.

“Staff treated one patient, a man reported to be in his 80s who was in cardiac arrest.

“He was taken to Kingston Hospital as a priority in an ambulance, escorted by a doctor from the air ambulance.”
