A 52-year-old man has been found guilty of voyeurism after he filmed his female colleagues in the toilets.

He was rumbled when a maintenance man found an Ipod nano under a toilet cistern.

Robert Arthur Kelly, 52, from Manor Park, Richmond, will be placed on the sex offender register for seven years after he admitted filming women at work.

The publishing manager was sentenced yesterday at Woolwich Crown Court, where he received six months imprisonment, suspended for two years, and a one year supervision order.

He had pleaded guilty to six offences of voyeurism on Tuesday, May 27.

In October 2012 a maintenance man, repairing a toilet at Kelly's place of work, found an Ipod-nano under the cistern in the women's toilet.

The discovery was reported to the police and a subsequent investigation identified that the Ipod was registered to Kelly.

Police then found a video, stored on his desktop, of a female member of staff using the toilet.

He was arrested by police on December 19, 2012, for voyeurism.

During his interview he admitted installing the device but claimed he was trying to catch a person who had defecated on the ladies toilet floor one evening when he had used it.

Further investigations revealed deleted videos of female members of staff using the toilet and a recording of a woman at home using her toilet.

Kelly was charged on June 30, 2013, with six counts of voyeurism.

At an initial trial he pleaded not guilty but when it was relisted for May he changed his plea to guilty.

Southwark Detective Constable Sarah Naisbitt, who investigated the crime, said: "This was a complex investigation that involved detailed examination and evaluation of computer files, where crucial evidence was secured.

"I would like to thank all witnesses in this investigation, Kelly violated these women in their place of work where they felt they were secure and had no idea that images of such a discreet nature would be taken of them in this way.

"I hope that they can take some consolation that he admitted the offence and as a result will have to sign on to the sex offenders register for a number of years.

"This type of intrusion is not acceptable and the Metropolitan Police will support all victims and pursue all suspects."
