Young students in Richmond are proving themselves a very bright bunch, after results showed them performing better than the national average.

The number of 11-year-old pupils exceeding national expectations at Key Stage 2 increased this year.

Councillor Paul Hodgins, cabinet member for schools, said: "Richmond has the best primary schools in the country and these early indicators show that this proud tradition continues.

"Ensuring children and young people receive the very best possible start in life is at the heart of what we do.

"I’m certain the borough will continue to attract the very best teachers and achieve outstanding results year-on-year.

"I would like to thank the children, teachers, staff, and parents for working so hard to achieve these results."
