A man who stole £30,000 worth of laptops from a Kew primary school avoided jail last month.

Derrick Arthur, 38, from Morden, was handed an 18 month burglary community order at Kingston Crown Court on June 26.

He was also committed to mental health treatment for 12 months and was given a supervision requirement, also for 12 months.

Arthur admitted swiping 25 laptops from Kew Riverside Primary School during the Christmas holidays, committing the burglary on January 3.

He had previously pleaded guilty to the charge of May 19, also at Kingston Crown Court.
