A sixth person has been arrested as part of Operation Winthorpe, the investigation into historical child sex abuse allegations in Barnes.

A 68-year-old man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of sexual assault on a child and has been bailed to return on a date in early October.

The investigation centres around Chancellor George Osborne's old school St Paul’s, Lonsdale Road, where it is alleged pupils were abused, mainly in the 1960s.

Five others aged between 52 and 67 have previously been arrested, while 57-year-old Anthony Fuggle, from Sutton, has been charged with 11 offences of making indecent images of children and six of possessing indecent images of children.

He is due to appear at Kingston Crown Court on September 17.
