A man was made to pay £415 after failing to control a dangerous dog in Twickenham, causing injury to a woman.

Bevan Helling, 39, from Basingstoke, pleaded guilty at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, June 3.

The incident occurred in Copthall Gardens on January 15 when his cane corso, an Italian breed, caused injury to Elizabeth Darby.

He was fined £110, made to pay compensation of £200, a victim surcharge of £20 and £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

The dog will be destroyed if not kept muzzled in public and on a tight lead.
