A man is trying to trace some World War I memorabilia belonging to relatives that could be in the Ham area.

Brian Lawrence wants to find three medals, a commemorative metal plaque and a framed letter from the King to his uncle, Corporal Greville G Lawrence, who was killed in November 1915, aged 17.

Mr Lawrence, who lives in Norfolk, said: “My father, Ted Lawrence, treasured them till his death in 2000, aged 90, at Cowper Road, in Ham.

“Unfortunately, he was nearly blind then and his wife, Eileen, was becoming confused and giving away their things to save work later.

“The World War I items and many others were never found.

“If anyone is able to trace them I would be delighted to offer a moderate reward to have them back in the family.”
