Holly Willoughby and Hugh Grant join judging panel for anti Heathrow-expansion film competition
A star-studded celebrity panel, including presenter Holly Willoughby and editor Rachel Johnson, will judge a Heathrow anti-expansion film competition.
The nationwide competition, launched by MP Zac Goldsmith and campaign group Hacan to highlight opposition to the third runway at Heathrow, will also see Bafta-winning director Nick Broomfield, actor Hugh Grant and broadcaster Gyles Brandreth on the panel to decide who gets the £10,000 prize.
The No Ifs No Buts film competition was launched two months ago and shortlisted entries will be judged by the panel at Richmond Theatre in front of 800 guests on June 18.
Conservative MP for Richmond Park Mr Goldsmith, who organised a rally protesting Heathrow expansion last year, hopes entries will flood in.
He said: “I don’t know what the competition will yield, but we have a great panel and lots of entrants.
“I hope there will be some powerful contributions.
“A green light for Heathrow expansion is effectively a green light for a vast, foreign-owned and taxpayer-subsidised monopoly on one edge of our great city.
“It is astonishing that the idea is even in consideration, particularly given that freeing Gatwick from the BAA monopoly has worked wonders for the airport and its customers.”
