Lovers of electronic music can rejoice as new wave synth-pop maestros Heaven 17 bring their live show to a Hampton Pool concert.

The inspiration for a host of current stars including La Roux, whom they performed alongside in 2010, Heaven 17 will be joined at the concert by doo-wop revival perennials Darts for the concert in July.

Glenn Gregory and Martyn Ware, formerly of the Human League, will be belting out classics such as 1983’s Temptation with live band members, and also have a few surprises up their sleeves .

Martyn says: “Of course we’ll be playing our greatest hits, but we’ll definitely have a few unexpected things for the audience too.

“We’re lucky to have some loyal fans that make it to all our concerts and we try and make sure each performance has something special about it.”

The band are currently recording their first studio album in 12 years and hope to be touring it next year.

Martyn says: “The album’s taking us back to our electronic roots, really. It’s got quite a lot in common melodically with Human League.”

The band are also putting together a box-set collection of all their albums, due for release next year, but Martyn says that nothing can top performing live.

He says: “We absolutely adore touring. It’s the most enjoyable aspect of what Glenn and I do.

“What’s not to like about performing the songs you love?

“We’re genuinely thankful to have such loyal fans and feel very lucky.”
