Hounslow’s borough commander made reassurances to the public following the fatal stabbing of Jamil Palmer on Tuesday.
Borough commander Paul McGregor said: “I would like to start by offering my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Jamil Palmer.
“Thankfully incidents like this are rare in Hounslow and I take this opportunity to reassure the community - particularly young people and their parents - that the investigation to indentify and arrest those responsible for this tragic murder is under way.
“I am personally in contact with my colleagues from the Homicide and Major Crime Command and they are updating me with developments.
“My officers continue to patrol the borough and are available to deal with any concerns that local people may have.
“I am meeting with community representatives this evening to ensure that the flow of information continues and urge anyone with information about the murder to contact the incident room.
“Tackling violent crime is a priority for police in Hounslow and we work very closely with our partners in the community to ensure that Hounslow remains a safe borough to live, work and visit.”
