Stealing a Diabetes UK charity collection box has landed a Richmond man with a £75 fine.

Rashmikant Patel, 61, of West Hall Road, took the box, which contained an unknown amount, from Tesco in Station Parade, Richmond, on March 6.

Patel admitted his crime at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on April 25 but it was not known how much money had been donated.

He was made to pay a £75 fine, £75 in costs and compensation of £20.
