Richmond ramblers are encouraged to discover the benefits of walking during get walking week.

Richmond Health Walks, the Ramblers and Macmillan Cancer Support offer free walks every day during the event from May 3 to May 10.

Bushy Park, Richmond station and the Ship Inn in Mortlake are just some of the meet-up locations for the walks.

Simon Barnett, director of walking sevelopment at the Ramblers, says: “We’ve seen first-hand what a positive impact regular walking can have on people’s lives, so we are keen to open up opportunities to everyone so they can benefit, too.”

Hayley Burgoyne, scheme co-ordinator for Richmond Health Walks, says: “Walking is such a wonderful way to get to know your local area and make new friends that it hardly even feels like exercise. You don’t have to be fit to start and everyone is welcome.”
