A youth theatre group wowed audiences when they performed at Hampton Court House last week.

The headteacher of the independent school, which used to house performances by the Teddington Theatre Club, was delighted to have the Rose Theatre’s youth group perform in its Victorian theatre.

The senior group, aged between 16 and 18, gave blistering performances of George Orwell’s 1984.

Headteacher Guy Holloway said: “It was the most stunning version of 1984 and the quality was just breathtaking.

“Each performance was striking for the clarity of the young actors’ diction and their balletic sense of timing and ensemble.”

This month alone, more than 170 students have been involved in Rose Youth productions, headed by Ciaran McConville and a team of directors.

The Rose company’s focus is on performance and it disciplines young actors and pushes their skills to the limit.
