Drivers will face severe delays in Mortlake this morning after an accident between a motorbike and a van saw a man rushed to hospital.

The crash in Clifford Avenue, by Lower Richmond Road, shortly before 8am forced the road to close in both directions.

Police are on the scene Transport for London (TfL) said it did not know when the road would re-open.

A spokesman for TfL said: “There is a relatively significant impact on traffic. Traffic signalling plans have been put in place.”

A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 7.54am to reports of a road traffic collision.

“We sent a single responder in a car and one ambulance crew to the scene.

“Staff treated one patient, a man reported to be in his 20s, for leg injuries.

“He was taken as a priority to St Mary’s Hospital.”
