Twickenham Academy was awarded Microsoft Mentor School status at a conference in Barcelona earlier this month.

The Microsoft Global World Forum, between March 11 and 14, made Twickenham Academy the only secondary school in Britain to achieve the status.

In a four-day period in January, it welcomed hundreds of Microsoft employees and customers from around the globe.

Academy principal Nick Jones said: “We’re delighted to have received this prestigious award but I’m most impressed with how our students are using tablet technology to accelerate their learning and raise standards.

“We’re seeing this happen right across the curriculum but students also benefit from being able to use this equipment to take their learning home with them.”
