A woman who hit her head on the pavement outside Twickenham station was helped by police officers manning a stall nearby.

Community support officers who had set up a bike registering stand outside the station this morning, March 11, when the woman fell.

Constable Lee Honey said: “It sounded like a crack and it must have been the sound of her head hitting the pavement.”

The officers from cycling task force of the Metropolitan Police, based in Southwark, are outside the station until 2pm registering bikes called an ambulance.

Community support officer Halil Abdullah said the woman came round when the ambulance arrived.

He said: “I just heard a thud and I wasn’t sure if she was coming into the station or going out. It is lucky that we were here and could help her.

“She didn’t know where she was when she came round and she was shaking on the floor.

“She could have even been unconscious for a couple of seconds. She was concerned that she wasn’t going to be able to get to work.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 9.45am to reports of a fall.

“Staff treated a woman, reported to be in her 50s, and she was taken to West Middlesex Hospital.”
