More than 80 revellers donned pink clothing and partied while raising money for a charity that raises awareness of homophobia in schools.

The Pink Night at the Proms, held at Normansfield Theatre in Teddington on February 23, was hosted by Richmond and Kingston lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender support groups.

The night raised £476 for the Schools Out charity, which aims to make schools safe and inclusive for everyone by raising issues of sexual prejudice in education.

Richmond’s mayor Councillor Meena Bond said the night was fabulous and everyone enjoyed themselves.

She said: “We danced the night away and raised money for a good cause which I’m delighted to have been a part of.

“It is incredibly rewarding for me to be in position where I can support the work of local volunteers and their good causes and it is a task I relish.”
