More money will be poured into repairing roads and pavements across the borough.
Richmond Council put aside a further £250,000 for the roads and pavement scheme, which allows people to nominate areas for repair.
The extra funding, which was announced by deputy leader of the council Councillor Geoffrey Samuel on Tuesday, February 18, brings the council’s total spend on the fund to £750,000.
He said the decision was made after a record number of residents, 1,900, took part in this year’s consultation – three times more than the previous year.
He said: “I am delighted to allocate further funding for such a worthwhile and popular scheme. This is direct democracy in action and gets to the root of a problem the council knows is of a concern for its residents, as it is with all local authorities across the capital and beyond.”
This year’s nominations are being analysed and areas for improvement will then be selected and are due to be announced next month.
