Flood warnings are still in place as areas in continue to be affected by the bad weather.

Parts of Teddington and Ham were flooded today, February 11, as well as Twickenham Riverside and Hampton Court.

The Environment Agency issued a flood warning at Hampton and Hampton Wick after the heavy rainfall during the weekend, with the water expecting to rise further tomorrow, February 12.

Levels are expected to be higher than those seen in January 2003 and properties close to the river are at high risk of flooding.

Teddington RNLI remains on standby but has not been called out this week.

Operations manager for the station Tim Ody said: “It is a very interesting time for us. We are just on standby.

“There has been a surge of water coming down the river and it is only just reaching us now.

“When it passes through Richmond it is quite wide and there are no obstructions.

“The wide sections of the river can take a lot of water so we might just be OK.”

A flood alert is in place the Thames at Teddington Weir this evening, February 11.

A leaflet which provides invaluable help and advice to residents whose homes are at risk of flooding has been published by Public Health England in partnership with the Environment Agency.

Councillor Christine Percival, Richmond Council’s cabinet member for health, said: “Luckily Richmond has escaped the worst of the flooding so far and our thoughts are with the residents in flood hit areas such as Datchet in Windsor. This booklet is a useful guideline for residents to refer to should they become affected by the floods.

“The safety and wellbeing of our residents is at the heart of what we do at the Council and Public Health England has worked hard in partnership with the Environment Agency to produce this very useful guide.”
