A man will spend a week in isolation to raise money and awareness for lonely elderly people.

Bobby Brooks-Phillips, 24, will spend next week alone in his Richmond home with no contact with the outside world to help charity Contact the Elderly.

Mr Brooks-Phillips’ husband and dog will leave him alone from Monday, February 17, at 8am and return on the Friday at 8pm.

He said: “Although I am attempting to live like an elderly person, I could never replicate it. For me there is a light at the end, but for thousands, isolation is never-ending.”

Mr Brooks-Phillips often hosts tea parties at his home for the elderly, with the Richmond Hill Bakery donating their leftover bread to the cause.

He said: “I will not have my cell phone or emails but I will update my progress to Contact the Elderly so they can live-Tweet but they will not reply to me.”
