For an evening of 1950s-style smoky blues music, look no further than the fantastic Kat & Co.

The band, fronted by Kathleen Pearson, will perform at Twickenham's Eel Pie Club next month.

Vocally inspired by the likes of Aretha Franklin, Etta James and Ella Fitzgerald, the soul singer’s voice has been compared to “chocolate being poured over hot coals”.

Kat & Co are one of the few modern day blues bands making their own music rather than covering the likes of Jerry Lee Hooker.

Starring alongside Pearson is guitarist and producer Francesco Accurso and pianist Federico Parodi.

The band released their most recent album I Kat the Blues last year to critical acclaim and are looking to build upon their success.

Evoking the spirit of the deep south in America, Kat & Co are out to prove there is still a gap in the market for original blues bands in this “age of manufactured pop landfill”.
