A care home in Twickenham raised more than £1,200 for the Philippines charity appeal after the country was hit by a typhoon in early November.
On December 17, Lynde House was visited by Senen Mangalile, the console general from the Filipino embassy.
A variety of donations were made such as clothes, food and toys but the majority of money was raised by a cake sale, held on December 19.
Care home general manager Alison McIntosh said: “I was listening to the news and I contacted the unit manager who is from the Philippines.
“I said we should try and do something to help and that led to the bake sale, where there were lots of donations, even from people not buying cakes.”
Typhoon Haiyan hit the south-east Asian nation on November 7, causing more than 6,000 fatalities.
