Festive cheer in Hampton Wick

Richmond and Twickenham Times: Fulham brass band Fulham brass band

Festive cheer was brought to more than 100 children in Hampton Wick when Father Christmas and his elves visited with a brass band.

The event began at the library at 5pm with a performance from Sacred Heart School Choir before the procession headed off to Christmas Square outside the Foresters on Friday, December 13.

The Fulham Brass Band led the way playing Jingle Bells, to the children’s excitement.

Carol Dukes, a member of Hampton Wick Association, said: “It was great. We were particularly pleased as it was such a horrible evening because of the rain.”

About 150 children and their parents and other adults attended and joined in singing eight traditional carols around the Christmas tree, accompanied by the brass band.

Two sack-loads of roasted chestnuts were handed out, which was met with excitement as many of the children had never tried these treats before.

Father Christmas and his elves in red and green handed out treats to the children and the event was a resounding success.
