Children who created lanterns will light them for a festive procession through Teddington.

Teddington Business Community got groups of schoolchildren, brownies and members of community groups to create the paper and willow lanterns for the wish for Christmas procession.

The procession, to led by Santa on his sleigh, will start at the memorial hospital end of Broad Street and go through the Causeway, Middle Lane and Elleray Road.

The lantern lit procession will then return to Broad Street and go along to the Baptist Church in Church Road where carol singing will finish off the festivities.

Alice Maslen from the Stepping On Out group in Teddington said: “We have already made our lanterns. It was such fun to make them and we are looking forward to the chance to parade them on December 15.”

Organiser Anne Moore said: “This is a first for Teddington and Richmond borough so we hope our residents will come out and support us.

“It has been great watching the children who have already made their lanterns having such fun.

“We are all looking forward to what we hope is a magical evening.”

The procession starts at 4pm on Sunday, December 15.
