Singer-songwriter Fabian Holland to play Twickenham's patch tonight

Richmond and Twickenham Times: Fabian Holland Fabian Holland

Having sprung onto the singer-songwriter scene from nowhere, Fabian Holland is now touring off the back of his self-titled debut album.

The guitar musician grew up in an artistic household where performance and expressing yourself were part of everyday life.

Holland also grew up to be inspired by bluesmen such as Sonny Boy Williamson, Muddy Waters and Skip James, whose classic Hard Times Killing Floor Blues is covered on the album.

Playing the guitar from the age of seven, he later attended the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, studying under the watchful eye of guitar virtuoso Eric Roche.

From there he moved to the mountains of Italy where he spent four years developing his musical style, busking, gigging and composing.

On his return to the UK he set up home on a narrow boat in London.

Folk Radio UK reviewer Simon Holland said: "Nine songs and just over 40 minutes later, you’re left wondering where this guy has suddenly appeared from."

Fabian Holland; Twickfolk; the Cabbage Patch, London Road, Twickenham; December 8, doors open 7.45pm; £10 on the door; wegottickets.com/twickfolk for more details.
