Cyclists will be able to take a new route through Twickenham after plans for a contraflow were approved.
The contraflow will allow cyclists who want to travel north through Holly Road to avoid the busy town centre's high street.
Richmond Council's consultation on the contraflow received 149 supportive responses from the 219 who replied - a total of 68 per cent.
Cabinet member for highways, Councillor Chris Harrison, said: "We are investing millions of pounds to not only change the look and feel of Twickenham but improve road safety.
"The Holly Road contraflow cycle lane will allow cyclists to travel along a quiet route and avoid heavy traffic in the town centre."
