A pub, which had its licence reviewed after a mass brawl and fatality happened nearby, has applied to extend its opening hours.

The Royal Oak, in Teddington High Street, had its licence modified by Richmond Council after the fight, which police linked to a murder investigation following the death of 20-year-old Patrick Lawless in November last year.

The modified licence included conditions to install CCTV and keep an incident log.

Councillors also gave extra recommendations for the venue to close the outside area by 10pm and get door staff to move people on outside the venue once it shut.

The venue has applied to vary the conditions on its planning permission to allow it to open for an extra half hour on Friday and Saturday nights, which would see it shut at 1am.

The planning application also requests that it could an hour earlier on Sundays, at 10am rather than 11am.

The application, which is available to comment on and view on the council’s website, is due to be considered by the council on January 14.
