Teddington hostel gets £173k grant for improvements
A mental health hostel in Teddington has received a grant to carry out improvement works.
The residential unit, which provides people with the opportunity to develop or regain the skills of day-to-day living, will be given £173,000.
The decision was ratified at a council cabinet meeting on October 17.
Councillor David Marlow, cabinet member for adult services and housing, said: “Accommodation like this can provide very helpful rehabilitative support after a hospital stay so that people receive support and be helped to move back into society.
“They are places where people are able to redevelop the skills that they need to ensure they are able to function independently.”
Improvements will include improving wheelchair access and providing a self-sufficient kitchen area so that those staying in the hostel can buy, store and cook food themselves without help.
